What is KVK annual accounts filing?
ESEF stands for European Single Electronic Format. It is a new reporting format for public companies in the European Union that requires them to publish their annual financial reports in a single, electronic format. ESEF is designed to improve the transparency and comparability of financial reporting across the EU.
Which companies must file annual accounts with KVK?
Dutch legal entities such as BVs and NVs generally must file annual accounts with KVK. Filing obligations and exemptions depend on the entity’s legal form and circumstances. Sole proprietorships generally do not have this filing obligation.
Do KVK annual accounts need to be filed in XBRL or iXBRL?
The applicable format depends on the company’s reporting category. Digital filing through Standard Business Reporting (SBR) applies to micro, small, and medium-sized legal entities and, from financial year 2025, large legal entities. KVK accepts XBRL or XHTML/iXBRL for large-company filings; iXBRL is not the only permitted format.
